 Tire pressure...

Does anyone here know of any 17, 18, or 19 inch performance tire that requires that you run pressures of 65 psi?

An individual, that will remain un named tells me that performance tires require lots of air. I always assumed that 32-35 psi was a good number. Less for drag racing, more for fuel economy. I guess it all depends on the tire, but a few psi here and there to get the most uniform wear and keep all the rubber on the road.

Now, anyone here running 65psi?

How about 60, 55, 50, 45, or even 40?

Just curious.

First hand inspection showed that the ouside third of the tire did not even come in contact with the ground and still had the little rubber feelers hanging off the bottom of the tire.

I did some research, and found that some websites are recommending up to 38 psi for the M Coupe. That even sounds high to me.

Also, it said that with plus one and plus two wheels and tires, an increase in pressure was a good thing. It went on to say that one to two psi made a big difference in the way the tires reacted and that in some cases, you could add up to 4 additional PSI to a tire to achieve optimal tire wear.

Oh, I just read the tires on my car. 44 MAX PSI. So I guess anything over that will void any warranty I might have had. Thats interesting to say the least. Anyone with 19s care to read me the max psi on thier tires?

generally, the shorter the side wall the higher the pressure - but 65? That's wayyyy out of normal. The max pressure should be molded onto the sidewall of the tire. I've seen low 50s hot on street tires after a 25 minute session in the hot Iowa summers, but 65 cold?
