I don't think you can... BMWs use the alarm siren for the audible beep... If you don't have the optional alarm, no beep.. You can get the lights to flash, however...

Does that have to be done at the dealer also?

I don't have my manual with me - I think it is about page 20 or 22. If you don't find it let me know and I will check it. I got my lights to flash twice on locking and once for unlocking. No Beep, no sighs, no screams - Managed to get the doors to lock automatically after driving off - now if I could only get the lights to stay on for 90 seconds when I shut the engine off - I followed the book and still no luck. I was amazed, I even found the toolbox yesterday after needing 3 people to help me. (we were looking for the locking wheel tool). I still don't understand why there is no temperature guage. Never had run flats before and never read up on them - hope they work - we live in the middle of nowhere - should be fun if I do get a flat - person at tire shop suggested get a spare. I figure - what's the point - then I lose the trunk and need to get a jack. Over the last 20 years only had 4 flats - therefore, hopefully all will be OK.
