If anyone remembers my thread a while back... my M Coupe was involved in an accident a short while ago. Everything was good and well, and the place I took it to assured me that none of the damage was critical to my cars performance or long term driveability.

None of that has changed, thank God, but it turns out my car was previously in an accident. There was no cosmetic damage that would make this evident, and we searched the title of the car, it came up clear.

I guess the previous owner crashed it, and had it fixed at at (sh*tty) bodyshop. They halfaseed the job, covered it up, and it never went on the title. The guy at the bodyshop says this wasn't my fault for not noticing, because none of the damage becomes evident until you actualy take the car apart. Whats worse is the insurance company won't cover any of the damages not related to the accident (I knew this from the start, so its all good)

More or less, I think its pathetic that somebody would do something like that, especialy to a car as beautiful & rare as the M Coupe. I told the bodyshop to fix ANYTHING wrong with the car, big or small, and whatever insurance won't cover, I will pay out of pocket. M Coupes deserve better than some half assed job, and I am gonna make sure that mine gets the royal treatment. With so few out there, I feel like I would be doing myself and the car a disservice by not fixing it back to where it should be.

Marcos Auto Body in San Gabriel is doing a great job for me; they are the most anal, meticulous people I have ever met, which is great.

As for the previous owner of my car....

Heck yeah, I don't care how much it costs.. cosmetic or performance related, I am going to make sure this car is in new condition when they are done with it. It deserves nothing less.

While it's apart, anything you've been wanting to bolt on to her? This would be a good time, I'm thinking. Just call it the silver lining in the crappy situation. And, this would be an excellent time to sneak anything by the S.O. in your life!

Proves my carfax point. It isn't 100%.

My girlfriends civic was nearly totaled and had the engine replaced.
Nothing showed up on carfax 4 years later. Huh?
I mean jeez, se was rearended and the front went under a truck. Later the engine was replaced as something wasn't right.

I was thinking about it, but most of the parts have already been ordered. This isn't bad, it would be nice to have all the OEM parts on hand. If I replace things in the future, at least I will still have all the OE parts in storage.

I agree. I have a feeling that this wasn't a case of it simply not showing up, though. I have a feeling the previous owner fixed it half ass, went under the radar and avoided insurance, thus avoiding any negative points on the title. For someone who trys to be honest (especialy about situations like this) it pisses me off. As I said before, I am just happy that the car is now in my hands and that it will be taken care of the right way.
