Since the purchase of my used 2001 ///M Coupe I have been having issues with the Power Steering system. Ok so here is the story.
At 29952 miles I take my 2001 ///M Coupe for service. One of the complaints was “noisy” power steering and what I described as an intermittent lose of P/S which was engine speed dependant. At that time the Tech states “No Problem Found. Operating to manufactures specification."
At 32161 miles the same complaint is present. The tech. writes “Checked the car, has noise coming from power steering pump. Replace the power steering pump, washer, seal, hoses and clamps. Refilled P/S fluid & road test car. Car is ok.”
At 43050 miles again I get the funky noise form the P/S system. They check and state “Operating to factory specs.”
At 48177 Miles again I complain of the funky noise and again they replace the P/S pump, washer, seal, hoses and clamps.
It’s now 50751 and I have the same noise and intermittent lose of P/S force.
The car is no long under “New” car warranty, but it is CPO.
1. Will the CPO cover any repairs? 2. I am thinking that there is obviously something else wrong that is causing the repeated failure and persistent problem with the P/S system. Has anyone had similar issues? 3. Should I push for the replacement of the other components of the P/S system?

NO, CPO only covers drive train (Engine tranny and rearend) plz correct me if Im wrong.... 2. 3. Yes you should try because you have it documented and they never corrected it.
Good luck, let us know how the BMW stealer takes care of this on going issue.

Good luck, let us know how the BMW stealer takes care of this on going issue. | Maybe it depends on your dealer, but I've had way more than that taken care of with my 99's (now since expired) CPO warranty.
The CPO doesn't cover "trim" items, but most other systems are warrantied.

I know someone at my local dealer.... it all matters how they approach the issue and if they are willing to help to get it covered. I would call and make sure whats coverd. I have been told they only cover drive train last time I took the Z3 in.
In this guy’s case, I suggest he take it back to the dealer and try to get it covered under warranty. His documentation will only help his position.
