CD Changer pre-wiring in M Coupe

My understanding is that my 2000 M Coupe should be prewired for a CD changer, and I assume that wiring should come out in the cd changer space on the opposite side of the trunk from the sub. I've pulled the cover off, and there are one or two wiring bundles over there, but I can't pull them out, I think they just go to the amp. Can someone confirm the location/size of the wiring bundle in the back end of the car? Or am I mistaken about the pre-wiring, and I'll have to plug into the back of the deck (Business CD -- this is for an icelink, not a CD changer by the way).

I've searched all over but can't find info on the stock changer system...

thanks!

My '00 M coupe had the wiring in the rear. I can't recall hearing from anyone about it never being there. At one time there was a BMW model that had a few units built without the factory changer wire, but I don't think it was the coupe.

The changer wires are usually twisted around the harness for the amp and pushed back into the carpeting. In fact, I believe I had to cut a few wire ties to finally get it to completely surface. It was very well hidden.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Dwayne, that's really helpful to know. I was assuming the wiring would be easy to reach; when I couldn't find it, I started to wonder if it was back there at all.

How do I go about removing the plastic cover for the sub and amp? Do I have to pull out the thing that holds cargo screen/separator, or no?

I managed to pop the bottom plastic clips off of the amp/subwoofer cover, but can't figure out how the top comes out and don't want to break anything... any advice there would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You have to remove the cargo screen/cover assembly. Pull up and remove the covers on each end of it and remove the two bolts under each one. Take out the assembly and you'll see the plastic screws that hold the other covers in place. These and the bottom clips you've found already will get you access to the whole inside. Then you should be able to find the connections.

Good Luck.
Dwayne
