Tire Pressure Light Blinks - no flat???

Last weekend the tire pressure light starts blinking going around a curve on the freeway. I pull over to check tires, no flat, not even low pressure. I get home and reset. ( had to get out the owners manual for that) It has not come on since.

Has anybody else had this happen? I wonder if it is a freak occurrence or will happen again.

It certainly bothered me when it happened, I thought for sure I had a flat.

i think those sensors go off when a tire is more than a couple psi (i forget the exact number) different from the other tires. For example, if all the tires had 34 psi and one got to 30, it would trigger the sensor (even though there was no flat).....

I don't think it is that sensitive. I randomly checked by pressures last weekend and one tire was 10psi below the rest. Not a peep from the tire pressure system. I think it needs to be a pretty drastic difference, especially with tires having such stiff sidewalls these days.

yeah, i wouldn't know from first hand experience. My sister's Mini has the system and I vaguely remember what i read in the manual....not sure what the tolerance is before the system warns.....

The system is not perfect and can be fooled by a mere pothole. There are no pressure sensors. It's a part of the ABS system. When it senses different rotation rates beyond whatever margin it is set at, the warning light will trip. Check/refill your tires and reset the system. This happens to me all the time.

I was about to blame the tire shop that just replaced one of my tires. I thought maybe they forgot to connect a sensor or something, since my light stays on after several resets. Thanks for the info.
