Oh for crying out loud. Mapquest has me going just about through canada to get there. Should I just follow 28 all the way up?

Seriously just Mapquest it.
First search do a general search, then look for twisties, and use nearest towns to them to get alternative routes there & home.
WARNING! I'm going with Atl group agian to Maggie Valley in Oct & the Dragon is part of that trip. You & Tiff are welcome to come

Just be aware that those are generally "mountain miles" and take longer to traverse than freeway miles.
