When you write Tom, tell him BMW should guarantee 4 oil changes to each purchaser, up to 60,000 miles. That way what appears to be the case will be a reality -- 4 oil changes.
But if he doesn't budge, remember, it's only about $100 you're unhappy about. (But maybe you can tell him that with tens of thousands of owners out there, that would be a big class action.  )
