Buying an 05' 3.0 next week, thinking about doing the Dinan pkg with intake, ram air, strut brace, exhaust, and performance software. $2500............is it worth it or should I do just the intake and software or nothing ? Thanks for any input. |

I can't imagine the software will do much for the Z4, much like the E46 where it only seems to remove throttle delay and raise the RPM limiter. Intake is not a bad idea, and I think an STB will almost always be a great idea, especially in an open top car. May help stiffen the chassis now, but should have the added benefit of preventing chassis flex induced rattles later.

The dealer gave me more for my trade then I paid for it in July and they took $6k off the the MSRP. I thought I might wait for the 06' Z4, but since they will only make minor changes on the 4th year, I thought it was too good of a buy to pass up. Plus $6k off compared to the $1k off my 06' 330i is very equitable. I can always add a supercharger when its available. And I'm impressed by how quick the little car is with 30 less hp and almost 500lbs lighter than my 330i. I guess I'll do the software update and CAI, it looks like the car already comes with some sort of strut brace, I'll try it out before I buy anything else.
Thanks,
J

Thanks,
J | No problem sounds like you got a good deal ...about a supercharger have you looked at www.vf-engineering.com With this upgrade your Z4 will be faster then the S54 coupe/ Roadster with only 6PSI. You'll love to drive with it and the software /CAI is included.
From my experience once you do this mod you will want this on all your future bmw's because Everything feels so underpowerd after.

When the questions were asked of every BMW associate the smiles could not disguise the truth... No leaks as to the motor choice. $6k off is not suprising since sales numbers are very weak. The build ratio of X5 to Z4 being built at this time was 60 z's vs 500+ X5's The dealers will never tell you the above info .... You have a great fun car enjoy Dinan mods will not effect your warranty so go for it & welcome to the roadster family
