Just an FYI. The spot welds on the rear muffler hanger on my 2.3 failed. I heard this loud pop and looked under the car and sure enough the metal hanger welded to the body had failed. I took it to Automatters in Burbank and my mechanic put to bolts in it instead so that the problem would not occur again. Mileage 133,000.

Same thing happened here at 64K miles. As a temp measure I put a bolt through the handger into the body, there was one hole in each that lined up. Didn't feel comfortable with a single bolt so I took it to a body shop who welded it and painted it to match while I waited (couldn't believe it).
