Anyone upgrade their suspension on their Z3 ? Currently I put on a strut tower brace and judging the way it used to drive it should have came with the car. Anyway, I'm thinking of some things and I wanted to know if people noticed a great improvement in any of the following below, (perhaps one could rate them 1-being worst, 5-being the best upgrade And tell what brand is good).
Front Sway : Rear Sway : rank -> brand -> struts: springs: rank -> brand -> Front Camber Plates : Camber Adjustable Rear Subframe Kit : rank -> brand -> Rear and Undercarrage brace: rank -> brand -> wheels : size or width or both ? (dinan ups it to 8.5 front and rear but keeps to 17") rank -> brand -> am I missing anything ? Any suggestions |

Wow, thats some expensive list. But dont get the rear subframe brace, thats a waste of money. Just get some IE bushings. They are amazing. Thats mod #1. Then suspension if you have any money left over.

I figure, once I start getting my rear end welded back together and reinforced, I'll drop in IE bushings.

RETAIL Dinan prices for the suspension would be about 3G INCLUDING labor. The wheels can wait. I was wondering if 18s really matter over 17s and if it's wise to increase the front to 8.5 from I think 7.5, did anything hav to be changed to fit them? I noticed the good BBS wheels were $$ like 600 a pop.

I wouldnt get a Dinan suspension unless you have money to burn. I think that koni shocks and eibach springs is a good value for what you get. You can also get a full coilover suspension from GC or TCKline. They are both good.

Here's what I have:
struts: TC Kline S/A Coilovers springs: 450# up front and 400# in the rear rank -> 4 brand -> TC Kline
They are really nice and compliment the car where it needed (the excess dive/squat/roll). TCK has excellent customer service and Pete was very helpful throughout the whole process. You can choose bits and pieces to make yours a totally custom kit, which is nice since I put a lot of miles on my car and I didn't want some really hard springrate. The only reason I didn't give it a '5' is b/c the double adjustables are theoretically better.
Front Camber Plates : TCK Camber/Caster Plates Camber Adjustable Rear Subframe Kit : Ireland Engineering Rear Camber/Caster kit (Sitting in my room.) rank for the plates -> 4 brand -> TC Kline / Ireland Engineering
The camber plates do their job and look sweet while they are doing it. My two problems with them was the price ($550) and the least amount of camber I could achieve was ~2.0 degrees.
wheels : HRE 441R size or width or both ? 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rear (dinan ups it to 8.5 front and rear but keeps to 17") rank -> 5 brand ->HRE
Best thing I did. It helps my car stand out from all of the others. But the most important thing is to get good tires.
