  Power Top stopped working.

 Power Top stopped working.

My power top stopped working. My Z3 has been in the garage undergoing a few upgrades for the trip to HC (installed a new head unit with iPod adapter and hooked up my Sirius Sportster to it). I had the center console apart, so I might have pulled a wire off of the switch (I'll try to check that tonight). I checked the fuse and it is OK.

Is there anything else I should look at? It doesn't make any noise at all.

The good thing is, I can open the valve on the pump and opetate it manually until I get back. It is under warranty until April '06 so a trip to the dealer might be next!

Thanks,

Mark

Leaving for HC Wednesday!

Check the brake light switch (are your brake lights working?).

The brake lights work. The key must be on for them to work (I know that on some cars the lights work no matter what). I'll keep looking.....

Thanks!

Check the microswitch in the ragtop, near the forward-most hinge point on the driver's side. It's a common failure (mine was replaced under warranty).

I turned the valve and manually put the top up. Then I tightened the valve back up and the power top engaged, but it stopped half way. So maybe that switch is cutting out.

When I have more light tomorrow, I'll check it further.
