 Mercedes ML

Granted this thread is kind of outta place here but I was wondering if any if you guys have experience with the Merc ML SUV? My girlfriend really wants one (ML320) but I'm not sure whether it is a reliable car or not? Heard both positive and negative things about it. I also posted on the Mercedes forum but replies are pretty slow there...

I'd rather have her buy the X5 but she doesn't want to spend that much

Any input is greatly appreciated!

They're very poorly built and unreliable.

Seriously, it was one of the first unreliable cars MBZ built.

Only worse SUV is the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have owned an ML55 AMG since September of 2000. It has been an absolutely reliable and enjoyable car. When people talk about bad reliability and other issues related to ML's I am always wondering if we are actually talking about the same cars.

I have had a great experience with it and would strongly recommend it.

That's nice, but I know many people who own Jeep Grand Cherokees -- the least reliable vehicle made, according to Consumer Reports -- and they have no problems either.

I simply wouldn't trust a vehicle with a very spotty repair history, no matter how many people I talk to that have had good experiences.

I pretty much knew it was going to do poorly when I first sat in one at the auto show and the door rattled when I closed it.. .yuck.
