New shoes today - torque spec. please

Putting 17" Michelin PS-2's today on my 2001 Z3 3.0, so it's ready to leave with the Florida convoy for HC on Wednesday morning.

I think the E36 M3 is 100nm. Or 75 ft lbs or something like that.

Yes, 75 ft lbs. A bit less if the bolts have lube or anti-seaze on them.

Don't forget to check them after ~100 miles or so and before every track session. Virtually every time I go back for another on track session, at least 1 of the 20 bolts needs a little bit of torque to bring it up to spec.

Per BMW AG TIS 31.08 wheel bolt torque for all Bimmers except E53, E65, and E66 is 120 N*m plus or minus 10 N*m. I torque mine to 84 ft/Lbs which is the lower end of the range. Do not under any circumstances lubricate wheel bolts.

I just put new tires on my '02 Z3 3.0 for the HC trip as well. I torqued them to 88ft/lbs which is at the higher end of the scale. While you don't want to lube the wheel bolts, I clean the rust off of the hub and put a very light coat of "Never Seize" around it so the wheel comes off the next time.

Safe travels and see you at HC!
