My tire shop just told me something strange . They said that I had to take it to the BMW stealer for alignment?? Is this possible or should I find another alignment shop?? I want to get this done before HC which is fast approching YIKS!!!

BMW alignment specs call for the car to be weighted when it's performed. However, the only adjustment is the front toe, which any shop should be able to do.

If toe is only adjustment is that what could be causing the car to drifft right??????

Drift on level road or on cambered road?

Most cars have cross camber or cross caster built in. A little more negative camber on the right front or a little more positive caster on the same will cause the car to drift left just enough to counter the cars tendancy to fall down hill and pull to the right on a cambered road (which most are for rain drainage).

On camber, just a few tenths of a degree will be enough to notice, caster just a little more. This equates to about 1/8 inch difference in the location of the top or bottom of the front strut. Not enough to see with the eye alone.

Do you drive hard or do autox or DEs? Hit anything? Even a big bump or pothole? Might be enough to move some parts around enough to matter. The tie rods for the front steering are designed to bend so the steering rack isn't destroyed in a hard hit. That's why there is the little S bend in it.

Every car is a little bit different though. Need to see a complete alignment sheet to tell.

I'd go to the dealer and have it done properly and see what's out (if anything) of spec. While it's on the rack, I'd ask that they inspect the front and rear subframes for any cracks or mis-alignments.

driffts on level road. Just had RD sway bars installed frt & rears. It driffted before that.
i have appointment with a dealer in Tampa- Reeves- won't go to Ferman 3 miles down the road they have no interest in cars not leased or in warranty period.
Will see what they say on Monday.
