NGK spark plug confusion and the thread that caused it

OK, so there was this thread a while ago...

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97360

1) BMW recommends an NGK DCPR8EKP plug in the owner's manual.
2) Ron posted screen grabs from the NGK website that shows the DCPR7EIX for the 2001 S54 M Coupe and 2001 S54 M3.
3) Ron posted a screen grab from the NGK website that shows the DCPR8EIX for the 2004 S54 M3.
4) Other members of the forum have bought and used the DCPR7EIX for their M Coupes.

So, just to check, I go to the NGK website, and it now lists none of the above for the 2001-2004 S54 M3 and the 2001-2002 M Coupe and M Roadster. Rather than the 7EIX or 8EIX, it lists the BKR6EIX. The 7EIX and 8EIX have 0.028 gaps according to Ron's screen shots. The 6EIX has an 0.032 gap.

What gives?

As another reference, the Denso website calls out the IK20 spark plug for the S54 engine. The IK20 has an 0.032 gap, which would correspond to the NGK 6EIX gap, which is what is currently on the NGK website as the proper plug.
