Had my 1995 525it touring wagon in and the mechanic said it needed a new radiator. He says they only last 5-7 years. Does that sound about right.

Is the fluid brownish? Any leaks directly under radiator? Are you putting this car through extreme temp changes throughout the year? You flush the system at least every other year? if you're got 5-7 years out of your last radiator and a nice amt of mileage, I dont think thats too bad.

I just got the car in April with 82k it has 85k now. Fluid looks fine. The thing that concerns me is that a week ago I had them look at the car while they did an oil change. I normally do oil myself but being a new car I wanted them to look at it a little while they changed oil and they said they needed to repair the bleed screw for the radiator as it was leaking, it still leaked so I took it in. That is when they said it needed a radiator. I just wonder if they just did not decide it was just time for a radiator. I trust this shop but it sounds like quite a coincidence the bleed problem came at the same time as the radiator needing replacement. I have a 318ti with 150k (1995) and it still has the original radiator in it and it is fine.
