 Rough drive with A/C on?!

Today was one of the few times I used my A/C. I usually drive with the window or top down as I hate A/C...

Now I noticed that the drive was quite a bit rougher. When I shift from one gear to another, it feels like the clutch "grabs" at a different spot; I almost had to adjust my seat?! Pretty annoying! Wonder if that is normal or if something needs to be cleaned out orso?

Thx!

Just had my A/C on today, and it was hard to tell any difference in the smoothness and driveability of the car between it being off or on.

should not effect clutch.have seen it make some cars idle a little higher.but no roughness

Hmm, maybe a combination of events? I really need to change my tranny fluid soon; maybe that together with the A/C has an effect on the shifting. Not sure...

I've been having a similar problem this summer with the a/c on in my 00 coupe. A sense of roughness while shifting, and a distinct irregular rumbling under the hood. At its loudest, when the engine is cold, it ALMOST sounds like a lightweight flywheel. Any unusual sounds on yours?
I have some time in the near future to look in to it further and will let you know if it's anything significant. Please let me know if you find out anything as well - I wish I could run with a/c off to get my mind off the rumbling, but moving to NC has not helped that very much!
good luck!

I definitely have that feel of roughness while shifting; also a slight difference in acceleration but that is probably normal. Otherwise no unusual sounds.

I did notice a slight sqeeking noise the first 20 seconds after starting the car; that has nothing to do with the A/C though (because it was turned off); it is really silent, so I don't think that's anything major...

I wish I wouldn't need A/C but it is almost too hot to drive with the top down lately! Highway driving is perfect though...

... Now that I think about it, does the A/C have some kind of belt? Maybe the noise is from that belt and somehow related to the difference in driving? I wonder if that makes any sense at all
