I have my crappy zimmerman rotors over at the platers to get plated, but they tell me I cant use a zinc chromate if they have been hardened. But they can do a chromium finish otherwise.
Anyone here know anything about metalurgy? Starting with how to spell it.

Anyone here know anything about metalurgy? Starting with how to spell it. | my understanding is that Zimmerman casts their holes in instead of drilling them.
I don't know what heat treating they do to thier rotors, but you might be able to contact them and get the info.

I think they are treated with salt water!
I wish I could get something good for the rears or M rotors like my fronts. The zimmerustmans are still on the rear. I will return to stock if I can't find a better replacement for the rears.

To keep them from rusting.

Anyone here know anything about metalurgy? Starting with how to spell it. | I have Zimmerman drilled rotors on my 2000 ///M Roadster. The Zimmerman rotors have been on the car for about 15K miles. I too, tried to have them cad plated but the plating shop tried and the finish wouldn't "take." I purchased Rustoleum (sp?) silver paint and painted the hubs and the inside (vented) part of each rotor. This has prevented any rusting and it also looks great on the visible hubs. I have aftermarket chrome plated wheels that allow a good view of the drilled rotors and hubs. Painted the calipers red (the car is Imola red) and have chrome plated brake pad clips. This all shows off quite well and the only down side is that I have to keep everything clean and looking good. I have the Dinan stage III suspension package installed with the yellow painted Koni adjustable shocks.
