Anyone know if its possible to put 6.5 components in a Z3. I understand there may be some drummel work but has anyone heard of this happening or have pictures of a stereo setup in Z3?

It also depends on the replacement speakers. Not al 6.5" speakers were created equal. In general, those with beefy cast metal baskets may require trimming of metal. If you want to make it easy on yourself, sound different between 5.25" and 6.5" isn't that much different.

You can fit 6.5s with no problems what so ever. But you wont be able to get hte kick panels back on. So if you want to custom modify your kick panels, then yes, no problem. If not, then I would say get the 5.25 speakers.

Thanks, I've got some boston Acoustics components I wanted to throw into the Z and its great they will fit with a bit of moding, now I have to find a stealth enclosure for subs.

I had some JBL 6.5 separates in the front of my '97 Z3 1.9. I had to dremel off the ring on the back side of the kick panel and then everything fit fine. As was said earlier, not all 6.5" are created equal, so you might want to take the kick panel apart and take some measurements before taking the plunge.
