Hey folks!
Does anyone have any specific information when dealing with an Oregon Dealer? Specifically I'm looking for a great deal on a Z4 3.0 Silver, Red Leather, HID, Heated seats. Any information about experiences would be great. There's a ton of stuff talking about ED, but I'm not sure that experience and deal would be applicable.
If the deal was that good, I wouldn't mind going anywhere in the US to get it done...I'd like to do the Performance Center Delivery and have it shipped back!
Thanks!

G | No help, but if you do PC delivery, consider driving it back. Especially this time of the year; a cross-country trip in warm weather is a nice way to introduce yourself to a new convertible.

Sure, it would be broken in....but I'd hate to get all those rock chips on the hood - or should I just pass to avoid that possibility? I emailed the Santa Barabara dealership last night - from this forum - but haven't heard from them yet. Business must be good.

Of course you could have it Xpel'ed before leaving Spartanburg. And if you're reasonably aware (stay away from the back of uncovered trucks hauling dirty agricultural machines ), flying rocks aren't that common a problem on the interstates; most of the rocks have flown out of people's tires before they get to the interstate. I get most of mine on the local roads close to home. Which makes me really want to get out of here every year for the trip to Homecoming; more enjoyable cruising miles w/o wear and tear than daily driving.
Another way to look at it... an opportunity to get some great pictures of the car in various parts of the country with brand new factory paint, and tires will be ready for hot-shoeing before you get home.
Whatever you do, post pictures once you're an owner!

In May 2000, my then 21-year-old son and I took delivery of my M Roadster at the Performance Center and then drove it 5,300 miles in 11 days on every two lane road we could find across the South and then up the Pacific coast. We drove the Dragon several times during my first full day of ownership. We had a blast and a great father/son bonding experience (sappy as that sounds).
You are not buying a museum piece. These cars will never be collectible in the sense that cars pre-1970 are. You are, however, buying an awesome piece of road carving machinery and should have as much fun with it as possible.
Have a great time. Don't worry about the rock chips, bug splats, brake dust, whatever.
BTW, I now have 99,000+ miles on the Lap Dog, have participated in One Lap of America three times and hit the track as often as I can.
Go out and enjoy your car in the way that makes you the happiest.

Yeah....I'm convincing myself more and more that PCD should be the way to go. The drive back would be a great adventure and a great way to break her in...I guess I'm being dopey. You're right about it not being museum piece.
Bring it on!
