Big fun.
1. Key in, turn. 2. Nothing. No dash lights of any kind, no nothing. 3. Remove key, get out. Go to rear hatch and open it, intent on removing rear battery cover to check installation. (I just put a new battery in a month or two ago, but have had no problems.) 4. Before removing rear cover I notice the rear interior lights flick on. Hmm. 5. Close hatch, back to driver's seat. 6. Key in, turn one click - dash lights. Start position - engine cranks, starts and then all electronics fail again. No dash lights, etc.
At that point I had zero confidence in getting to or from work with the car, so I punted and took the f350.
I'm going to check the battery connections tonight but I think it's unlikely that is the source of the problem. Any other ideas?

Quote: | I'm going to check the battery connections | this has happened to me. they were loose. my dash lights would all come on (as if i was about to start the car) whenever i would drive over a hard bump...i thought i had a serious problem. then i was stranded in a parking lot (same as u describe)...looked at the battery, nothing out of the ordinary...closed the hatch, everything turned on (radio, lights, etc). re-opened the hatch and tightened the connections. no problems since

Fingers crossed that's the issue. Any other takers?

Have you been under the dash lately. If you were there might be a loose connection to the ignition switch. Also there are interlock switches on the brake and clutch pedals. These switches have about a hairs difference between adjusted correctly and not.

Similar thing happened to me. I had a devil of a time getting the positive terminal to stay on. I finally put a socket on it (so the battery post would fit through the opening in the socket) and persuaded it on with a hammer.
