I'm trying to get 17" SSR comps for my car but nobody is able to get them any more. I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of companies but the outlook is bleak.
I'm trying to get away from running 18's... after driving the car for awhile they're just too big and heavy. I don't know if this is because I have heavy BBS CH's or just the size of the wheel. My parts guy(who I do trust) is trying to get me to buy 18" SSR comps... but I'm not convinced.
Any other suggestions for a lightweight wheel?

BBS RK (not RK2). The one-piece ones. If you can find them in the right sizes. They're no longer listed at Tirerack.

Any other suggestions for a lightweight wheel? | Street or track? Bling or function? How much do you care about the lip in the rear? Maybe most importantly, how much money are you ready to spend?
According to TireRack, the BBS CH 18x8.5 is 23.9 lbs. and the 18x10 is 25.4 lbs. A little on the heavy side, but there are definitely heavier choices. The SSR Comp-H 18x8.5 is 18.5 lbs, which is very light for an 18" wheel. The Comp-H isn't a bad wheel for the price if low weight is your main priority. You won't lose all the lip in the rear either (the 18x10 has a 25mm offset).
More money to spend, I'd personally buy BBS RS-GT 18". Gorgeous wheel, low weight, reasonably strong. They're on my wish list but are pricey for off-the-shelf wheels (almost $3300 for a set of 4 without tires). And not fun to clean.
Even more money to spend, I'd get custom offset 17" wheels from someone.
Off-the-shelf 17" wheels with workable offsets are getting hard to find. I feel your pain. BBS RK 2-piece isn't a bad wheel, and it'll shed a few pounds versus the CH, but you'll lose most of the lip in the rear (offset is 32mm for the 17x9).

Actually, you can get CCW competition classics for $2300 sans tires in 17". Good chunk of change but not bad considering what you're getting for the money. Definitely on my wish list.

Maybe most importantly, how much money are you ready to spend? | It's a hard thing to find that's for sure. I want a street/track wheel for the time being so the ssr comp fit the bill nicely. I don't want to spend much more than $400/wheel
There is a place somewhat locally that makes custom wheels. Their "RT" wheel looks quite nice and is VERY reasonably priced... so I am also considering that.
Kodiak Racing Wheels
The CCW's are very nice too.
