Transmission Storage...yeah, I am actually asking..

Ok, I have my 5 speed sitting on a stand in the garage. Its vertical though, so its not in the normal designed position. Do you think this is a bad thing?

So I give the output shaft a turn every time I go in the garage. Probably once or twice a week, just to keep the fluids on the gears, but now I am wondering if that does any good.

Anyways, I was thinking about draning it and filling it up completely full of fresh fluid.

And should I shift gears and spin the input shaft to make sure the fluid gets between the gears?

Any thoughts would be welcome. I want this transmission to be good for years and years.

(and I want it to be a coffee table one day)

What you really want is a completely realistic shifter when you're playing computer games.

Done. I'm very tempted to get this setup:

Just completely fill it. Buy a set of shaft seals and put them in a Ziploc bag in a drawer should you decide 10 years from now that you're going to use the transmission before turning it into a table base.

Alternatively, tear it down, put Techline coatings on the internals, coat them with grease and wrap them in cellophane. You'll learn something, and can take some good pictures for us. Which you'll need the day you put it back together 10 years from now.
