I'm looking at upgrading my 6000k HIDs to the Xtec Race 4500k with a supposed 4200 lumens of light output for my projector z's. Should I just stick with the regular xtec kit with the 4500k and 3400 lumens of output?
Anyone tried teh xtec race kit yet?

I have a set of the normal 4500K Xteb bulbs from Jim on the way. I'll let you know if it is an improvement from the 5000K I have now. I'm not terribly impressed with the output using the 5000K Xtec HID kit right now. Hopefully, the new bulbs will offer a significant improvement.
In retrospect I wish I would have just gone with the halogen bulbs, since I think the main problem with the HID bulbs is that even with the rebasing, the arc isn't the same geometry of the halogen filament that the projectors were designed for.

Very interesting that you brought that up. I have a friend with the Projector Z's with halogens and they seem to put out MORE light than my same lights with HIDs. Now I'm starting to think...hmmm.
How much did Jim P quote you on those bulbs? I might go the same route instead of getting a new system.

I didn't go to HID for the ProjectorZ for a number of reasons, and am very happy with the light output of the halogen bulbs. I think Fred (phrider) is in the same boat. At a minmum I'd suggest comparing the halogen bulbs to HID. You might be happier with the halogen bulbs.

The halogen in the Projector Z was actually brigther than my 6000k HIDs. Can you believe that? WTH? You guys are right. If anything, I might just go back to Halogen. But then the AE will be totally mismatched color wise.
