 Randy: RE Diff cover question

Randy (or anyone else who knows),

I am about to do a differential swap (3.15 out and 3.64 in) and am wondering if there is any reason not to change to a Rogue Engineering Dual Eared differential cover at the same time, even though there is only one mounting point for now (a trip to Ohio is not in the cards right away)? I do plan to get your "Buns of Steel" mod before TOO much longer.

The mounts are different, you wouldn't even be able to bolt up the one side. However, the 3.64 uses the smaller tone wheel (speedo pickup) that the Rogue cover will require.

I recall Randy talking about exahust clearances with the dual eared cover also...

Yep; thanks guys, for covering my back

The E-36 cover (with two mounts) does not line up with the single bracket on the body (that would be too easy). And the stock exhaust won't clear the dual ears without some minor modification by your local exhaust shop.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just buy the RE cover and keep it in stock until I can do the "Buns of Steel" mod --- or more accurately, have it done by someone who knows what they're doing.

There's a collision shop down San Diego way that's just finishing up the mod on an autocrossing girl's M Rdstr.

She talks like there's several more interested owners, so maybe this shop will develop a new sideline business. I'm waiting on word from them on whether or not they're interested in doing more (she's a personal friend of the owner).
