swapped batteries, don't have the 5-digit code, but i was able to retrieve the serial number with some help off the enthusiast sites...
my HK singleCD radio is asking for a 5-digit code, but i've only read about hacking 4-digit codes.

i bought the car used... didn't think the original dealer will give me the code since i'm 1300 miles from the dealer at this point. maybe if i fax them the title, i thought, but it's a big favor, i'nt it?
i heard you can decipher the code off the head unit's serial number, though.. wive's tale?

Call any dealer. Just explain to them that you bought the car used.

Quote: | Call any dealer. Just explain to them that you bought the car used. | Yeah, it's no big deal. I got my code over the phone. Granted they gave me the code for the wrong radio at first. Alpine and Blaupunkt make the headunits for these cars(not HK) and they both use different codes.
There are some people online(cough on DTMpower...) that can look it up for you as well if you do a search there.

thanks you guys... they told me they needed the car to come in, but i gave the whole "you are supposed to be able to give it over the phone, you have before"... they gave in.
FYI, there were 2 different codes he told me to try, one if it were an alpine, one if a blaupunkt. weird. i gave him the serial i got by holding in the "M" (thanks bimmerfest) and he said to try both.
thanks for saving me the dealer on this one, all.
