So... How much like the E30 M3 is the Mcoupe/roadster?

I am just curious...

We all know we can bolt up the engine and tranny to an E30..

I am pretty sure the rear subframe will bolt up...

What about the front suspension?

Think you could fit a Z3 dash into an E30?

I have seen Vader seats in an E30, so I guess the coupe seats would fit...

The front suspension architecture has been relatively unchanged from the E30 through even E46, but 'bolt up'?

I've seen normal E36 dashes in E30s (mostly in Europe) so this seems feasible.

I was thinking about how hard it would be to transplant an entire S54 roadster or coupe into an E30 M3. Mechanics and interior...

would make it a lot heavier up front (the engine). how would that affect the driving dynamics? i would guess that it'd push more in the corners.

Well, if you replace the front fenders and hood with carbon composites to make up the difference?

The S54 isnt that much heavier than the S52USB32 that everyone else seems to be installing...

But with S54 springs... It should be ok...

If you're asking the question in the title of topic, I'd say that the M Coupe is about the closest car BMW has made to date in achieving the true character of the E30 M3. I personally think the E30 M3 is more forgiving though. The other car that fits this profile is the E36 318ti... I think this car would adapt to an engine swap far better than an E30 M3.

If you're asking how to retrofit all of the inner workings of an M Coupe/Roadster into an E30 M3, you should listen in on some of the religious conversations on the E30 M3 SIG. Most people there consider it sacrilege to ever consider putting any engine other than what the wise engineers at BMW picked. The general consensus is that no matter what you do suspension-wise, you'll never get back the perfect balance that the S14 motor provides. I happen to sit in this camp as well.
