Hello everybody, I recently bought a 96 z3 for a little summer fun car. It only has 43,000 miles and is a beautiful black color with tan interior and a black top. I have a couple issues maybe you could help me out with, or where I could go for info and parts. First, my radio wont turn on, it says "code wait" is there a place I can call for the code? Can I put the roll hoops and a tonneau cover on a 96? I'm missing something that covers a light bulb under the headlight switch, and it looks like it is missing a center console cover, or maybe there was a phone there?? are these parts available? There's also a small rectangle hole to the right of the ignition on the dash, I don't know what goes there either. I've had the car for 4 days and it is a joy to drive and so far I really like it. Sorry so many questions, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Gregg

Get the serial number off the radio and contact your BMW dealer. I think you will need the VIN number off the vehicle also. He can give you the code to punch in the radio and then the radio will be operative.

Welcome.
Mycoupe is right on the money about the radio code.
Factory roll hoops cannot be added to 96 Z3s without welding and serious work. It is doable if you have to have them though.
Any part you need for a Z3 is available at your dealer, including the headlight trim piece(s) you need. You can add aftermarket center console armrests if you like. Check out this site and look at Mark1 and Mark2 armrests.
Rectangle hole near ignition key is probably a switch bay for fog lights or it's an unused blank. You can buy replacement blanks at your dealer. Hard to tell without pictures of what you need.

Thanks for the replies, I'll order one of those armrests. I don't have a BMW dealership near me in Montana, I'll look online for one nearby. Thanks again. Gregg

Must be a pretty exclusive car there in Montana. A friend of mine just moved down to CA from Montana (200 miles north of Missoula-can't remember the name of the city). He said people either drive a dodge truck, a ford truck or a chevy truck
