 Tire Sizes?

Yes this has been asked before and yes I know how to use the search!

But, from a performance perspective (looks aside), what are opinions on the best tire size for a Coupe and Roadster with stock wheels.

It seems that a 235 in the front and a 255 in the rear would give usable added traction under braking and launch.

I was also thinking that a 235/265 or 225/255 combo would add traction and keep the tail in line off the corners. My concern here is winding up with an understeering dog.

Anyway, I need to order tires tomorrow so I would love some advice!

I'm running 225/40/18 & 265/35/18 on my M roadster.

I have never really posted on this board before and tend to hang elswhere but I will share my $.02 with my recent experience. New to the board but not the BMW's.

As most of you know, the z's and in my case the M's have a real problem with keeping the ass planted in the corners and such. I love to drive both my cars and tend to go through tires so this time I wanted do a little test -----I went 275-40-17 Rear & 235 on the fronts.

No free rotation as Discount tire but let me tell you, the ass sticks to the ground and the front does not pusha bit. Believe it or not, try it, you will love it.

I had 235/255 and didn't like it that much b/c it tended to tramline. I went back to 225/255 and I like it a bit better. the 235 made it feel a bit sluggish up front too.

275 rear, at a 40 aspect ratio. That's gotta be a tall tire, eh?

I just did the math for a 35 aspect (presuming they even make that size), but it's kinda small. Definitely smaller than stock 245/40. Would take a 285 to make a 35 aspect work.

How much weight does a 275 add over a 245?
