A/C out again! De-Shark before repair?

My A/C is out for the second time in 2 years. My Z3 is still under warranty so I'll take it in and get it fixed at some point. I don't need it when the top is down of course, but I prefer to have evrything working properly.

I purchased and installed the Conforti upgrade last week and I'm quite happy with the results. It seems to have removed the 3.0 lag and throttle response is much better.

Should I remove this temporarily before I take it to the dealer? Or will an A/C repair not require the dealer to see that I have made this change. My warranty is up in April '06, but I don't want to void it until then. I know that the update isn't "supposed" to void the warranty, but has anyone had it happen anyway?

Thanks,

Mark

O.T. Consider yourself lucky that you`re still under warranty, I just received an estimate of $1000 to repair my A/C. Condenser gave up after a grueling 9300 miles. Guess I`m
fortunate that it`s only broken once in 5 years compared to twice in 3 yrs. for you.
Gee, what a great car....

To change the condenser is at most a 20 minute job and thats only if you are a retard paralysed from your neck down... It sits on 2 screws at the top ,2-3 from the front ( aux fan area) and 2 hoses on the bottom. Im sure there are plenty of DIYs on this. Once its in take it someplace to fill it up.

Yes you are correct, now go and price the condenser and drier, and the charging costs.
Even a "paralysed retard" like me can do the math. By the way that`s paralyZed.

My real question is: what do they construct these condensers from? old beer cans soldered
together with Cheeze-Whiz? Same quality construction as the differential mounting points?
I repeat: Gee, what a great car...

I do consider myself lucky to still be under warranty. If the warranty had expired, I would have to wait until I could take it to my friend's shop 600 miles away and do the work myself (he has the proper tools for the job).

I think if it happens one more time, I get a new one. Do you think BMW will give me the one they have at the Zentrum (the last Z3 off the line)?
