I am new to this forum but I am considering the purchase of a 1998 Z3 M roadster with 1600 original miles. I have read that the early cars did not have traction control as this car does not. Is this a rarity amongst the '98 M's? If so does anyone know how many they made in '98 both with and without traction? Also what do you think a car like this should be worth? The car is Imola red with the red and black interior and side air bags and again 1600 original miles. Thanks for the help.

None of the 98 Ms had traction control.
On a car with that low of mileage, you need to see service records. Many services are time-based not just mileage-based. Otherwise, it sounds like an interesting find!

I have seen some '98's listed as having traction control and Edmund's lists it as standard. What would you consider time based services? Is there anything I need to look for in particular? Are the cars reliable?

Edmunds is wrong in this case.
Brake and clutch fluid must be changed every 2 years. Coolant is every 3-4 years (I change mne every 2 so I'm not sure). Also, I believe the oil is supposed to be changed at least every 12 months regardless of mileage.
These cars are very reliable in general.
