How long has BMW been producing an All-Wheel Drive system?

Has that production been non-stop in Europe? I don't recall any US BMWs with AWD between that E30 and when the X5's and E46 Xi's hit the road.

The E30 325ix has been produced between 09/1985-12/1990.

I guess my question wasn't very clear....

Between the E30 and the E46/X5, did BMW produce an AWD vehicle...say and E36/34/39 etc in AWD?

Yes, there was the E34 525ix, both sedan (1991-1995) and touring (1992-1996)
