It seems that after my last oil change somebody left the radiator cap loose. I came out of a museum to discover coolant dripping down from below my car. I assumed it was a blown hose or something but when I opened the hood the cap was clearly loose. It was sunday night and everything was closed but I found a grocery store and bought distilled water and filled up the radiator. Now every thing seems ok. Temp gadge i stable. Check engine light has gone off no signs of a leak.
So my question is, do I need to flush my coolant and replace or will it be ok with a gallon of distilled water in the system?

If it makes you feel any better, buy a gallon of BMW anti-freeze and another gallon of distilled water; just drain your radiator and add the premixed 50/50 coolant until you're full again. This will still yield less than the target 50/50 solution, but a lot easier than dumping the coolant from the block.

By the time you and I need to do this again on our cars, you'll have an adapter block w/ banjo bolt that I can put a short pipe on so coolant doesn't go everywhere, right?

Cool. (no pun intended)
There is a drain valve below the radiator right?

There is a drain valve below the radiator right? | Yes, inner/lower left hand corner of the radiator. This is a one-time (plastic) plug, so get another one from your dealer before you start.
