I am going to install a Colgan 2 piece bra this weekend on my '99 roadster.
Anything I should know before i install it?? Any tips, tricks??
Thanks,
Paul

you will probably have to adjust your hood (raise retaining hook and detent buffer height) so you will be able to open/close w/out having problems. see TIS-

I recently purchased a bra directly from Colgan after buying the OEM one and being unhappy with the way it fit/attached. As I am in Los Angeles I drove down to Colgan and their recommendations (which I followed) were:

Attach only the top half and leave it for a day to compress the material at the contact/narrow points. Then attach the lower half (after removing the top) for a day to compress the material. Then re-install the entire unit.

Frankly I felt the fit was still too tight (really had to pull VERY HARD on the hood release to get it to release)

I then followed the instructions in that came with the OEM bra to adjust the hood catches to increase the spacing a bit. The two catches on either side of the front of the hood have have a 17mm nut (from memory, could be different size) that you have to either lift and compress the spring to get to or slip a slim open end wrench thru the spring coils to grab the nut. turn the nut 1/4 turn counter clockwise while holding the post stationary with a large slotted screwdriver in the slot at the tip (to prevent it from turning) to loosen it.

Then turn the post 1/2 turn counter clockwise (moving it out making it "longer") using the screwdriver. Then holding the post stationary with the screwdriver, tighten the nut by turning clockwise.

Check the closing and opening and make additional finer adjustments if you feel you need to.

By the way, I have a never used OEM Bra I would be happy to get $50 for (half of what I paid)

Are you sure you want to do that? I'm not a huge fan of them and isn't it bad for the paint?

I stopped using mine when I noticed at 90mph and above it would flap across the hood and leave a line in the paint.
