I've been having problems with my breaks squeaking like crazy when coming to a slow stop at a light or stop sign. It really bothers me and I want to fix it. I went to the dealer and they put some spray of some sort on the breaks and that took care of it for a week or so and then I was right back where I was before. They also suggested that I go do some heavy breaking. So I gladly took a drive one Sunday and did some good breaking. Still I have bad squeaking. BMW's answer when I went back to them was to replace the brakes (pads, rotors and calipers) for about $1200.00 which I declined and told them if that was the only solution I would be upgrading to a bigger Brembo brake kit. Anyone have any ideas before I go out and drop 3K on new brakes?

Why don't you put some anti-squeal on the pads and see if it helps?

If you do it yourself, you could replace the pads and rotors for less than $300.

Noticed that you have a 2002 roadster... I just went in to the dealer for an annual oil change, and told them your exact symptoms of brakes squealing/squeaking when coming to a slow stop... they said, "we don't grease brakes"... "we suggest getting the rotors resurfaced"
Doesn't things of this nature fall under warranty... mine still in under and if yours is an '02, it should too? Anybody?

Almost all break squeeking is caused by the pads moving against the caliper. The anti-squeel is to stop this - it's not grease and you don't put it on the braking surface.
