Hey Guys
I have a 2002 S54 MCoupe – 12/01 build date - dead center of the problem motors.
Ive done 6 Blackstone labs oil reports for every oil change. 21K miles on motor. Lead now at 13ppm with 14ppm copper. See pdf. No death rattle yet. Engine still sounds good. Blackstone reports a failure starting at 15ppm lead with concurrent high copper readings. Spoke with manager at Blackstone. They have 300 oil samples from S54 motors. Normal lead reading is 3.
I want to get this taken care of now and be proactive. S54 M3's get the fix. I have vin documentation of 8 S54 MCoupes with full spun bearing failures. I bot the car at Cutter and live in San Jose Bay Area. What do you guys suggest? How can I get this done now. I appreciate the help.
Best
Tom

Tom | Wow, that's a long list of mods... when you do get it checked out, hopefully, the stealer will not try and screw you based on your mods. Good luck!

No engine mods. No issue. Suspension has nothing to do with bearing...etc.

Sorry to hear about your high lead level, I guess all S54 owners are hoping that day doesn't come for them. I think your best bet is to get in the dealer's face. Don't take no for an answer. If he won't budge on a new motor, tell him to pull the pan and drop a couple of rod caps: the sight of shiny copper on the bearing shells means only one thing: hello, new motor. If he won't do that, have someone else pull the pan and show the dealer the bearings. Or file a claim in court. Considering the vast amount of evidence on S54 bearing failures, and the fact that BMW sent you a letter upping your warranty to 100K, I believe an arbitrator would rule in your favor.

It would be a bummer to see the same scenario at 6-1/2 yrs/102k
