Good stuff.

Interested to hear how it compares to a CAI with heat shield.

Great info, the numbers don`t lie. Unless the aftermarket CAI`s come with mini fridges, there`s no decrease in intake temp. Perhaps the factory has more R&D time/dollars than an aftermarket supplier....? We would all like to believe we can bolt on magic H/P, remember when you would invert the air cleaner lid on a domestic V/8 years ago?
Probably did nothing for performance but you sure could hear that 4 barrel sucking air!
Made you think it was faster, same goes for "drag pipes" on motorcycles!
"perception of speed is directly proportional to increase in noise" After all, race cars are loud, race cars are fast, ergo, anything loud must be fast! Maybe the CAI`s do offer less
flow restriction but I`d assume the actual gain in H/P is marginal. Thanks for all your work/research, and for sharing it here.

I had the chance to dyno my S52 Mcoupe a couple years ago and while doing so, I compared the stock OEM air filter to a K&N drop-in replacement (p/n 33-2070). There was NO difference! Shows to go ya that the stock filter, even with its thicker media, is still efficient. fwiw
