What kind of tool do you use to undo the two bolts on MAF sensor to the housing? TIA

A T20 security TORX bit. Mine is a WIHA TR 7015.

Yet again BMW chooses to use weird bolt shapes.

BTW I have a set of Torx security bits I picked up from Lowes. I think they are Bosch.

Not as weird as Porsche; their 3-1/2" HFM (as supplied by AA for Stg II turbo application) uses a five (5) point Torx-Plus security bit. They're available, but you have to give quite a bit of information (to be "cleared") before they'll sell you one.

I chose to remove the element before doing this (to allow the filter element to slide on a little further).
