My dad has a 96 Z3 and the other day the back lighting behind the odometer went out. You can still see the mileage on the odometer but it is not has bright as it used to be. Has anyone else had this problem and how easy was it to fix and how did you do it? Thanks for the help.

The previous owner of my car had this problem. He told me the dealer fixed it for $250, apparently the bulbs burned out.

I had the same probelm on my '96 Z3. Their are 3 bulbs that alluminate the dashboard cluster. It is possible to get to them without removing the steering wheel if you do a little bit of wiggling....the dashboard pod is basically held in place by a couple of TORX screws a nd clips.

Sounds like it might be the headlight switch.
