I could use some help here. 2002 3.0 Z3 waking up from the winter. Battery is dead. Jumped it but engine only turns over (with loud snapping). I am suspecting fuel problem. Ideas? Common problem with hibernation?

I have found that jumping a BMW is problematic.
I find a charger overnight to be a much better deal.

For what its worth- i've stored my Coupe (Nov-March) for 3 years now and all i do is disconnect the pos and neg terminals of the battery. every spring time it fires up with no problems. i would suggest doing this or hooking up a good battery tender next time you put it in storage.

Thanks for the help. Next storage will do the disconnects. Problem I have is that the engine is turning over, but not start.

if its a fuel problem i would assume that the lines are gummed up or there is excessive condensation. thats why some people use a fuel stabilizer when they store their cars. however, i would think that these problems would only occur over a long period of hibernation
i still think it may be your battery. you might want to try a new battery or as Terry suggested, try charging it over night.

A full night of charging the battery was all I needed. She fired up immediately the next day. Thank you to all who responded.
Cheers
