Randy, Ron & all other fabricators...need some advice

Got a situation that I need some thoughts on. I'm a mechanical engineer with a bit of creativity and ingenuity, but I want to solicit the opinions of the other smart people here.

My fiancee loves cars, and loves the coupe, but there is a problem. She's a bit shorter in stature than the designers at BMW accounted for...4' 11" (and a half) to be exact. The problem is that to fully depress the clutch pedal, she has to sit dangerously close to the airbag. She can see out well, so only the clutch engagement is an issue. I was thinking about some sort of clutch pedal that had something like a 5" extension on it. Here is my criteria.

1) Something on the order of 4-5" of extension over stock clutch pedal.
2) Can change from stock to extended clutch pedal in less than a minute.
3) Secure...won't move or slip off during use.
4) Looks decent.

No, removing the airbag for a non-airbag wheel is not an option. Any thoughts on this?

Back many years ago, there was a couple that autocrossed a Corvette (trailers C2 autocross car). He was 6 foot something, she was 5 foot nothing. They made a set of clip on pedal extensions, for all 3 pedals.

Man was she FAST, and cute.

Basically they used blockes of wood with metal clips that snapped over the pedal on 4 sides.

Similar story (and also on a Corvette), only the pedal extension was only needed for the clutch and used a wing-nut type compression clamp.

As much as I hate to suggest it, the J.C. Whitney catalog may already have what you're looking for...

Thinking out side the box. How about fabricating a driving shoe with added sole on left shoe. This way you could drive the car & she could drive the car without getting on your knees to futs around with pedal every time you want to switch drivers. Sorta like the platform shoes of the early 70's... With todays modern adhesives I'm sure a cobbler could assist. Just another idea...
