I'd always been under the impression that BMW NA didn't release numbers of automatic vs manuals sold for each model. The supposition was that this "closely guarded secret" was important to maintain the illusion of BMW as a sporty brand (hence more MT's) when the reality was most BMW buyers wanted their luxury cars with slushboxes.
Recently, I've noticed a few posts that quote specific numbers of MT vs. AT for specific models during a given year. Is there a source? For that matter, can specific options be searched and compared.
Example : I'd like to see how many E46 tourings were MT vs. AT.
Just how "rare" is my 325xit with manual transmission? Maybe one day when it's time to sell it, a potential buyer, for whom manual transmission is a "must", would be motivated by statistics of how few E46 tourings with MT were actually imported to the US.

Hey uter, I have your 2004 twin! Perhaps we can at least find out how many 'festers have E46 Tourings with MT. So far the total is two.

I can't remember if the Amish urinal-cake-green touring was a stick, I'll have to dig through some old posts by dr. phil.

No manuals anywhere in the US as a CPO, so we "had" to do Euro Delivery.
And I resent Urinal Cake green. We get tons of compliments on the color. :P

I don't think there are any good numbers publicly available on what percentages of options are fitted. No doubt there is someplace at BMWNA and at BMWAG with excellent data on that -- and it would be very interesting.
Can I hang out with you manual Touring guys? It's true that I have no clutch pedal, but I do have a 6th gear as partial compensation...
