Well, my whole rear end is still out from the welding Randy graciously did for me last weekend (Ireland toe and camber kits on the subframe, reinforcement gussets on the trailing arm swaybar pickup points). I did manage to get the touch up finishing work done this weekend. Two coats of rust encapsulator on the bare metal, as well as any rust spots on the subframe (and the inside of the subframe bushing races). One coat of chassis black paint on the subframe. Rust encapsulator and rubber undercoating on the trailing arms where we removed the factory rubber undercoating to do the welding. One trailing arm looks decent (used the brush can rubber undercoating), one looks darn ugly (rattle can). Lesson learned: don't use the rattle can rubber undercoating. I'm too tired to sort through pictures and take some of the trailing arms, but here's one while the chassis black paint was still wet on the slotted pieces for camber adjustment. Here's one from right after welding that shows how these kits work (this one is for toe). While I had the whole rear end out, I decided to powdercoat the subframe support brackets in light gray. |

Randy, how many hours do you think a shop would charge to install the Ireland rear toe/camber kit? And how much of a PITA was it? I have the K-MAC bushings sitting in room, but I'm starting to look into the IE solution more. TIA.

Matt | <2 hrs. if you carried the subframe into the shop under your arm. The welding work wasn't too difficult (you have to slot the t/a mounts first); Daniel will have to describe the work to remove the subframe, and the time required.
Daniel also has K-MACs (never installed) and probably always will... Even when people ask to buy them from him, he talks them out of it

And next to all of that is BobC's old Hamann front spoiler which still needs painted. (Long story there.) I need to buckle down and get some parts off of my floor. But I did install the coilovers/camber plates/wheels last Friday night.
Bob, do you mind disclosing how much you paid to get your IE camber/toe kit welded in? And if you think it was worth it.

Matt | Matt,
Getting the IE camber/toe kit welded in cost me $70 (1 hour labor) and a bunch of my time. I took the subframe out myself then had my mechanic weld in the camber/toe kit and remove the stock bushings. I put the subframe back in myself as well. I had the same mechanic give the car an alignment after the subframe was back in. That was another $140.
It was well worth the time and expence. The results of yesterday's autocross proved that. I finished first in my class, second overall (raw time), and beat my nemesis by a second.
