Are we all using 18/lbs torque on the spark plugs?
I see a little tolerance in the spec.
Also the connection between the plug and the coil wire/connector is only pressure if you leave the screw-on tip on the sparkplug. If you remove it its possible to get a real tight connection.
the photo on left is w/o plug cap. It sca rews tight. (not the correct way I believe)
the photo on the right w/cap. It's just a PRESSURE on the top of the cap, not really connected mechanically. (correct way I believe)

What thread are your plugs? M12 or M14? M12 is 23Nm +/- 3Nm on the current TIS M14 is 30Nm +/- 3Nm on the current TIS
On the older TIS:
On my ti which uses the M14 the BMW spark plug box it comes in says:
On my coupe which uses the M12 the BMW spark plug box it comes in says:
I use the BMW tool 121 170 for my M12 coupe:

My engine came new with Bosch Platinum +4 plugs.
The Torque specification printed on the box is 19 ft. lbs.
I would think the spark plug spec would over rule the engine spec for torque.
