 Tranny X-member. Ever see this?

Don't know when it happened but if the difference in the car means anything I'd say it happened some time ago. Found it when checking the flex disk at the mechanic's during an oil change. Shifting is so much smoother now and took the opportunity to install Rogue bushings too. Have no idea what could have caused this other than when I was rear ended in February. Thing is, shifting is so much smoother now even from before the accident so I can't say for sure it was the accident.

Whow. I'd check the engine fan area also. Possible shifting of the front of the engine, with the tranny sagging. Could have caused rubbing of the fan on the top of the shroud.

Thanks for the heads up. When we first discovered it (at Motor Works West) they gave the engine mounts and other areas a looking over too. Seems this was the only casualty. NY pothole???

It is an alloy. But still it must have been quite a shock to crack it. I don't think any of us have seen one fail before. The autocross guys might have though.

That's the first one I've seen broken like that.

I had mine off this past weekend to install the Ireland transmission mounts. I'd guess it was either from your accident and/or a flaw in the casting (see any voids in the crack?).
