If you could, would you buy this?
I'm talking with some people that can run 4 x 8 sheets of 10 Ga. through a laser cutter. Depending on sheet yield (nesting), cost per "car's worth" and interest, I may pursue this. I'd like to get an idea if it's worthwhile. Note: same post (poll) on B'forums, please only cast your vote in one location. Thanks! | | Reply » If you could, would you buy this? | Approximate cost?

Thanks! | Your not showing all of the parts. How much?
You could also do this with approved shops in applicable states. Wholesale the kit and let them deal with the customers. Can run this by Auto Associates in Canton, CT if you want.

If the "main assembly" (shown in opening post) drops into the next couple of cars that I do (like it did for Zoran's Coupe) I'll weld that up before shipping.
installation would be: 1. gain access (Coupe or Rdstr) 2. cut away old mount (drill out spot welds & smooth over) 3. cut slot in trunk floor & two (2) slits in xmbr for blades to pass through 4. drop in main assembly, verify alignment and weld in place 5. close off the top & weld angle reinforements to longitudinal rails 6. refinish top/bottom with primer, seam sealant, texture & topcoat(s) (removing differential will aid step #6) 7. put everything back together
I'm shooting for a price to be competitive with Dinan's (granted, this will take 2-3 times the hours to install). Can't nail down the price until I get the estimate from the laser guys.
I like the approved shops idea, I'd hate to hear of someone doing a hack job on their car.
Next time you're at Auto Associates, you can ask them.
