Annoying rattle
00 2.8 Rdstr. Sharp edged bumps cause a rattle @ top of dash near the drivers side A-pillar. If you had to visualize the sound, you`d guess a plastic covered cable at least 1/4" in diameter moving up and down. Ran it without the bra, no change. I realize this is trivial but, any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated. Thanks | | Reply » Annoying rattle | i had the same kind of rattle in the same general area you described. after dismantling everything under the driver's side dash, i found the source of my problem- the hood release cable. if you follow the cable it runs right through/near the a-pillar. for some reason, when the hood was closed and the cable was in tension, it would rattle over bumps. when i would release the tension by pulling on the hood release handle (and not actually opening the hood) the rattle would go away. try that test, if it goes away then you narrowed down the culprit. the solution to this is to adjust the hood so the cable is not too tight while the hood is closed.
