Muffler ( Exhaust ) upgrade help

HI....

I am looking to replace my stock 2001 3.0 exhaust system with something that enhances performance but delivers a deep rich growl......No high pitched rice burner types need apply!!!

What exhaust do you reccommend?

Not looking for "excessive" noise, but that deep rumble when started and accelerating...kinda like a mustang V8 with Flowmasters....

Thanks

a) Little gains are to be had with exhausts, other than lower over weight.

b) I have Super Sprint Magnum and like the sound. Mellow, rich, but not too loud.

Do a search, LOTS of threads here on this topic.

It's a matter of taste, but the most popular seem to be:
supersprint
eisemann - costly, but great sound, race system is their loudest I believe
magnaflow - loud and most cost effective
B&B - loud

That's all I can think of for now. I just had a SS installed (see Ron's thread) and am very happy with it. Sounds great under load, but when just cruising resembles stock (S52).

As pinecone said, real benefit is weight savings....my car lost almost 40 lbs yesterday

I just ordered Eisenmann race performance for my 2000 M coupe and can tell you late next week how they sound. The guy at Eisenhaus said several of his "sport" customers have come back for the race version. I can assure you that either one will not be as loud as the system put on by the original owner of my car. Sounds great under load, but the drone is killing me - this is my daily driver.

There are several threads out there with some comparison comments.

I have also been researching exhausts, and am interested in comments specific to the 3.0 roadster/coupe. The 3.0 liter cars have different exhaust systems than the M-cars and I am not sure you can directly compare the two.

I do know from my research that there are not any exhausts that will directly bolt on for a 3.0. They are all cut-and-weld.

Does anyone have any comments/feelings that apply to the 3.0 liter cars?

TIA
