Hi, new owner of a m coupe.

The previous owner installed a Momo steering wheel on the car, but the wheel is not tightened properly, it is quite loose and I can move it back and forth against the column for 1-2mm. The owner said that's the way it is. How can I fix it?

thanks.

Sounds like a kluge. Perhaps you should consider replacing the original wheel/airbag, for safety's sake.

I agree, it's a good idea to have an airbag in a street car. Especially if you actually wind up injured as a reult of not having one... your insurance company could give you real grief when they discover your car came with a driver's side airbag that was subsequently removed. Esp. if your insurance rate reflects the assumption of an airbag.

Of course, if it were my car, I'd be tempted to try one of the Raid wheels (has airbag). I've never been all that thrilled with the stock M steering wheel; it's bigger than it needs to be. I think Zoran is running one of the Raid 340mm steering wheels.

Hmmm. I guess we'll know for sure next Saturday (1/15/2005), that's when his Coupe is due to arrive for it's proctology exam/rectal surgery.

Mmm. Nice, I can't wait to get a closer look at this one

Of course, this will be the view I'll see the most of...

After seeing Zoran's Raid wheel I looked into it for my car and discovered that the Raid wheels won't work on cars with 2 stage airbags. For M coupes I think that means 2000 and later; my '02 is definitely out, much to my disapointment!
